Limited Editions
LIMITED EDITIONS
Limited editions of my sculptural bronzes and metal works — in an art-market context
Limited editions, to me, mean deliberate scarcity: exclusivity and market value should not be left to chance, but clearly regulated. I realise this limitation in two ways — through strict edition uniformity in the classical casting process and through serial one-of-a-kind variance in metalworking.
The bronzes: defining the closed edition
My bronze sculptures are fixed at a worldwide total of ten pieces. I produce them using the traditional casting process. After the tenth cast, I permanently destroy the mould — ruling out any later expansion of the edition, technically and legally. Each bronze in this series carries identical sculptural characteristics and documents the precise state of my original model.
The metal works: serial variance with one-of-a-kind status
My metal works are likewise subject to a binding upper limit of ten pieces per series. Unlike the identical serial casting of the bronzes, I execute these works as variants. The overarching design concept and structural basis remain the same across all pieces — yet each work differs through its final manual finishing. Nuances in surface texture, specific tool marks or individual material treatments turn each of the ten pieces into a serial one-of-a-kind.
Market relevance and documentation
For the art trade and collectors, the contractually guaranteed limitation to at most ten pieces is a decisive factor in valuation and price stability. I ensure complete traceability through physical marking on the object and accompanying documentation.
Numbering and signature: Every piece in my Limited Editions bears a unique collection number (e.g. 1/10 to 10/10) and is signed or stamped by me.
Certification: A dedicated certificate of authenticity documents the binding total edition, the exact number of the present piece and the technical material data.
